Wood looks that survive real life in Boulder County, Colorado
Luxury vinyl plank is a favorite for good reason in a place where mud season, snow, and four-legged family members are part of life. It looks like oak, hickory, or walnut, resists scratches and moisture, and costs less to install than many solid wood floors. It also works from the main floor all the way down to a finished walk-out basement.
Floor Crafters is a family-owned flooring company, in business since 1988. We bring our mobile design showroom to your home, so you can see planks next to your cabinets and trim in your own light, then get a no-obligation quote on the spot.

How to choose the right plank
A few specifications explain most of the difference between planks. We walk through them with real samples during the in-home visit.
- Wear layer - thicker layers resist scratches better, a smart upgrade for large dogs
- Rigid core - stiffer planks bridge small subfloor imperfections and handle temperature swings better
- Flexible or softer cores - a bit warmer and quieter underfoot
- Total thickness - thicker generally feels more solid and sounds quieter
- Plank width and finish - wide, matte planks look closest to real wood
- Considering the real thing? Compare with engineered hardwood

Learn moreFloating or glued, and what suits your slab
Floating click-lock planks install quickly and are easy to repair, while glue-down installs feel more solid and are better for very large open spaces. On Front Range homes we pay special attention to temperature: a floating floor in a room with big south windows can expand on hot afternoons, so we leave the right gaps and avoid pinning it at the edges.
In basements, we test the slab for moisture and flatness. Concrete here moves a little as clay soils shift, so a well-prepped floor matters. If you have radiant heat, tell us before choosing so the product is compatible.

A full-service crew from start to finish
We move furniture, remove old carpet or flooring, prep and level the subfloor, install the planks, trim the doors, and clean up. Within ten days we come back to confirm the new floor is performing well. If you are tackling the staircase too, see our vinyl stairs page, and for neighborhood-specific details look at flooring in Boulder.

Luxury Vinyl Plank - frequently asked questions
Usually yes. It handles concrete slabs well and is waterproof on the surface. We test the slab for moisture first and level it as needed.
A good wear layer is quite scratch resistant, but nothing is indestructible. For big dogs, choose a thicker wear layer and use felt pads on furniture.
LVP is waterproof and a little softer underfoot. Laminate is a hard-surface plank that dislikes standing water. See our laminate flooring page for a closer comparison.
Often, with the right product and careful temperature limits. Tell us about your system during the estimate.
